The teacher/students relationship is vital in a learning environment. Many times we will have so many students that these relationships will be hindered by our lack of time. Having a designated classroom blog would help teachers get to know their students. It could also make otherwise mundane, drawn out assignments a little more bearable. It would also give students who have trouble expressing themselves about various assignments a venue to do so in more depth than they would otherwise. I think it could be a great resource.
When I was in elementary school, the extent of our computer education was playing with the paint tool and a choice of two or three games to play. I remember doing about the same thing in junior high, and in high school my teacher just sat there so I spent most of my time checking email and browsing random subjects like french fries (seriously, I was bored). My students, however, even if on the elementary level, will probably have basic skills that I had to learn over junior high and high school mastered. Computers are in our lives now like paper has been for hundreds of years, so my experience and my student's with computers will be very different. I will still probably have to learn a lot. Some of them may know PowerPoint better than I do! So while we've had different experiences, I will have to overcompensate for what I may not know to meet my students with what they do.

myself

i am 23, an art education major, and ready to be graduated - which will happen this spring. i spent two years at ut knoxville doing interior design, discovered i would be miserable if that was my career, so i transferred to mtsu. i love creating my own art, especially painting, and i hope i enjoy teaching it just as much. i am getting married in december and am super super excited about that!!! i know this semester is going to fly by with everything that's going on, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. its better than the time dragging in anticipation. i guess this doesn't really encompass who i am, but it's a lot of current things about me. i also don't like using caps, i don't know why, just never have, and since this part is about me, personally, i figured that was ok. :)
